2013 -2014 Season
City Trekker Camps at CGM explore the City of Coral Gables through a variety of disciplines and take advantage of all the cultural destinations and activities that The City Beautiful and the Museum have to offer. Explore exhibits. Create arts & crafts. Venture on field trips. Discover art, architecture, design, history and more!
Camp activities run from 9am – 5pm for Kids ages 5 -10. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available for an additional fee. Registration Required.
Offered on select "no school" days. Includes a pizza lunch and snack.
City Trekker Summer Camp at the Coral Gables Museum offers 8 weeks of fun, educational activities for children ages 5-10. City Trekker Summer Camp explores the City of Coral Gables through a variety of disciplines and takes advantage of all the cultural destinations and activities that The City Beautiful and the Museum have to offer.
Through exhibits, special presentations, art activities and field trips campers will learn about art, architecture, design, history and more! Campers will also enjoy some splashin’ fun including a trip to Venetian Pool every session!
The Coral Gables Museum provides a safe place to create, play and learn. Family and friends are invited to join us every Friday at 4pm for Friday Finales, special presentations featuring creative projects and accomplishments from the campers’ week-long adventures.
Campers will be grouped according to age. Caps, field trip fees and Friday pizza lunch are included in the registration fee.
Camp will take place Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available for an additional fee. Early Bird and Sibling discounts available.
Session Themes and Dates:
DESIGN AND PLAY:Session 1: June 9 – 20, 2014
Carnaval, samba e futebol! Discover the culture of Brazil and their passion for soccer! Explore the newest exhibit 12 Stadiums – 12 Cities: Brazil, World Soccer Destination, and design your own FIFA World Cup stadium, poster and soccer ball! Learn about the rules of soccer. Score a goal, or root for your team at Phillips Park! This session is a combo of art and sport!
SHUTTER BUGS:Session 2: June 23 – July 3, 2014 (No Camp July 4th)
You can be a photographer! Capture the architectural marvels, urban life and natural wonders of Coral Gables! Meet a professional photographer and take a behind-the-scenes tour of a photo studio! Vote for your favorite photo in the Capture Coral Gables 2014 exhibition. Take your best shots, and display them at the Museum for family and friends to see! Cameras provided.
SPLISH N’ SPLASH:Session 3: July 21 – August 1, 2014
Jump into the cool water of Venetian Pool. Splish n' splash at a local water park. Enjoy the sea breeze and perfect scenery for en plen air painting at Matheson Hammock Park! Design your own water park! Beaches, pools and crazy water sprinklers. It’s all on the agenda for a fun- splashin’ time!
NATURAL WONDERS:Session 4: August 4 – 15, 2014
Discover the seven natural wonders of the world! Where are they and why are they so special? Meet a doctor who climbed Mount Everest! Explore the nature that exists right here in South Florida. This session is filled with nature hikes, wild discoveries, and live animal presentations. So put on your City Trekker caps, and explore the great outdoors!

Sibling Discount Policy
First child pays full tuition. Each additional sibling receives $20 off each session.
Extended Day A.M. (8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.) is available for an additional $10 per day per child. Extended Day P.M. (5:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) is available for an additional $10 per day per child
*Regular drop-off time is 8:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Regular pick-up time is 5:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
City Trekker Summer Camp is looking for four volunteers
16 years old or older per session. Volunteers must be willing and
able to commit to one complete 2 week session (or more) in order to receive
full community service hours. Duties include assisting Summer Camp Instructors
with activities, field trips, and drop off/pick up. The times we will need
them are from 8:45 am - 5:15 pm. See above for session dates and themes.
INTERNSHIPS - EXPERIENCE IN SOCCER AND/OR PHOTOGRAPHY:
We are also looking for someone who specializes in Soccer and/or Photography:
Camp First Session needs a volunteer able to lead the instructions on basic soccer techniques and soccer practice.
Camp Second Session needs a volunteer to lead basic instructions in photography. This can count as an internship or community service. This person is expected to conduct the same responsibilities as a volunteer listed above.

Volunteers interested in participating in Gallery Night Kids' Club, Day Camp, and City Trekker Summer Camp sessions must make an appointment to meet with School and Family Programs Manager, Dianely Cabrera prior to volunteering for those activities for the first time.
