Preservation Education Workshop Series
The Coral Gables Museum, in assoction with The City of Coral Gables Historic Preservation Board and Dade Heritage Trust is presenting a series of monthly workshops on the cultural, economic and environmental benefits of historic preservation.
All workshops are free but seating is limited. RSVP is required. Call Chris at 305-910-3996 or e-mail chris@coralgablesmuseum.org to reserve a seat.

Historic Designation Demystified
For many residents and owners of historic properties, the process of historic designation can seem overwhelming. Our panel of experts proves otherwise in this workshop. The distinguished panel includes Preservation Attorneys Tom Logue and David Doheny; City of Miami Beach Planner William Cary, City of Coral Gables Preservation Officer Kara Kautz , architect Jose de Gelabert and Miami-Dade County Preservation Specialist Rick Ferrer. The moderator for the panel is Kendell Turner, a Board member of Dade Heritage Trust and past chair of the City of Coral Gables Historic Preservation Board.

Why is preservation so important? Our panel of experts illustrates the cultural, environmental and economic benefits of preservation, from home and business owner to the larger South Florida community. The discussion will include tax incentives, green materials, preservation’s positive impact on urban design decisions, our historic landscape and more. The panel includes University of Miami School of Architecture Professor Rocco Ceo, Miami-Dade County Preservation Officer Kathleen Kaufman, Venny Torre, President of Torre Construction and Coral Gables Historic Preservation Board member, and City of Coral Gables Historic Preservation Specialist Simone Chin. The moderator for the panel is Dolly MacIntyre, Chair of the City of Coral Gables Historic Preservation Board.
